About the Role
The MA Game Design programme at BSBI encourages critical thinking, innovation, and experimentation. As a lecturer in Game Design, you will contribute to developing and delivering modules that focus on creative gameplay mechanics, storytelling, prototyping, visual aesthetics, and industry-standard production pipelines. You will guide students in crafting compelling experiences using game engines and digital tools, while fostering a strong foundation in theory, practice, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
•    Teach assigned academic modules in Game Design, Game Development, or Interactive Media.
•    Support students in building and showcasing industry-ready portfolios, including prototypes and pitch documents.
•    Develop engaging syllabi, lesson plans, and creative assignments aligned with programme goals.
•    Evaluate student performance through assignments, presentations, and practical projects.
•    Supervise Master's dissertations and final game projects.
•    Encourage cross-disciplinary approaches integrating storytelling, UI/UX, and visual development.
•    Guide students in using tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender, or similar.
•    Provide mentorship and feedback during studio sessions, critiques, and one-on-one consultations.
•    Participate in academic activities including open days, student exhibitions, and faculty meetings.
•    Collaborate with industry professionals and contribute to curriculum development in line with emerging trends.
•    Promote an inclusive and collaborative learning environment.


Your profile
About You
•    A Master’s degree (or higher) in Game Design, Game Development, Interactive Media, or a related field.
•    Strong portfolio of professional work in game development (e.g., indie, AAA, serious games).
•    Experience teaching or mentoring in higher education or equivalent settings.
•    Proficiency in game engines (Unity or Unreal), 2D/3D graphics software, and prototyping tools.
•    Solid understanding of game mechanics, systems design, and player psychology.
•    Familiarity with storytelling techniques, visual scripting, and level design.
•    Knowledge of current industry workflows, pipelines, and collaborative development models (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
•    Excellent communication and feedback skills.
•    Experience using educational platforms (Canvas, Blackboard, or similar) is preferred.
•    Fluency in spoken and written English; German is desirable.

•    Passion for innovation, creativity, and digital storytelling.
•    Active engagement with the game industry or academic research in game studies.
•    Experience in organizing game jams, workshops, or public showcases.
