Your Responsibilities

The opportunity:
 
We are looking for a new colleague to join our Business Faculty in Hamburg on a full-time basis starting 1. September 2026, who shares our vision of excellence in education and who is committed to making a difference in the lives of our students and staff.
 
In this exciting role, you'll deliver engaging and practical modules, leverage your expertise to create real-world connections, and foster an inclusive learning experience that values diverse and creative problem-solving.
 
You’ll play an instrumental role in delivering high-quality, future-oriented education, empowering students to develop the skills and mindset needed to thrive in a globalized and rapidly evolving world. Your contributions will have a lasting impact on the academic journey of your students and support the continued growth of both the university and its vibrant international community.
 
Key Activities & Responsibilities:
  • Conducting advanced courses in core DevOps modules, such as:
    • Agile Development
    • Containers and Orchestration
    • Continuous Delivery and Deployment
    • Cloud Computing
    • Machine Learning for DevOps
    • Advanced Software Design and Optimization
    • Systems Provisioning and Configuration Management
  • Conducting other basic and advanced courses in related areas
  • Supervising project-based work, capstone projects, and the Master’s thesis ensuring a high standard of academic achievement and didactic excellence
  • Advising and supervising students to help them achieve their goals
  • Contributing to the further development of DevOps curricula and applied learning formats (e.g., industry projects, labs)
  • Initiating and conducting research and development projects in DevOps, Cloud Computing, CI/CD, or related automation topics
  • Establishing industry collaborations and partnerships with tech companies to further grow the network of the University
  • Participating in university administration and committee work, actively supporting the success of UE
  • Advising prospective students and contributing to UE’s outreach activities
Requirements for a professorship: 
  • University studies completed with a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Proof of exceptional aptitude for scientific work, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate and/or the quality of scientific publications
  • At least three years of qualified professional experience, with two years outside of a university, in software development, cloud architecture, DevOps, or related domains

Your profile

  • Proven teaching or training experience in at least two of the following areas: 
    • Software Engineering and Agile Development
    • CI/CD and Automation
    • Cloud & Container Technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GCP)
    • Infrastructure as Code and Systems Management
    • Machine Learning Operations (MLOps)
  • Strong practical and academic understanding of DevOps pipelines and toolchains 
  • Ability to teach courses in English language
  • Ability to teach courses in German language is an advantage
  • Commitment to applied research, student engagement, and curriculum innovation
  • Strong ability to communicate and work in a team

The award of the title Professor by the University of Europe for Applied Sciences is contingent on the approval of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Culture of the Federal State of Brandenburg/Germany.
